Unfortunately, he didn't get the recognition he deserved for them because of his reputation and relationship with Elizabeth Taylor. The spectacle became more important than the art. Elizabeth received an Oscar and had the reputation of a serious actress. Ms. Taylor was in control. She often made herself look like the victim of his drinking and womanizing ways.
